Blame Naomi …
We would all be thrilled to ‘see less’ of Naomi.
For the last few weeks, we've seriously been asking ourselves if it was time to hang up the keyboard.
Picon Press was started because public records requests—especially from the Washoe County District Attorney's Office under Chris Hicks—seemed to disappear into a black hole. With Hicks defeated, we're hopeful that when Wes Duncan takes office in January 2027, some of those requests that have been gathering dust for years might finally see the light of day, and the truth will be known.
So we wondered... has our job here been done?
Then someone sent us a social media post that made us laugh so hard we nearly needed a change of clothes.
It reminded us exactly why Picon exists.
Whether it's politicians giving themselves standing ovations, public officials treating praise like it's an Olympic sport, unanswered questions about who pays for what, or simply the fascinating world of City of Reno fashion choices—there's apparently still plenty to write about.
We’ve got no words.
So, we've made our decision.
Picon Press isn't going anywhere.
If you need someone to blame, blame Naomi Duerr for reminding us that self-congratulatory posts are comedy gold. Or blame all the other moments that make people stop and say, "Wait... what?"
Either way, there will be more Picon.
You're welcome.
