Gianna Jacks has resigned from the Washoe County Library Board, effective June 16. The vacancy will now be filled by the Washoe County Commission. Her tenure on the board often generated controversy and debate over library policies, governance, and public access issues.
Thought you might want to read a letter her lawyer Hawah Ahmad of Ahmad Law sent awhile back. Sad that media can beat up on individuals willing to step up and serve and we wonder why people don’t apply for boards and commissions.
Independent voices are needed even if we don’t like what they are saying.
