Oh, Greg Kidd—When Will Nevada Finally Sink In?

A post from one of Grant Denton’s alleged victims in response to Mike’s Reno Report in response to the Greg Kidd event.

Greg Kidd is at it again. Last week, the well-funded would-be public servant hosted yet another “Meeting the Moment: Affordability Crisis” town hall at Reno Public Market, promising a thoughtful conversation about rising costs—groceries, rent, electricity—and how Northern Nevada might chart a more equitable future.

It all sounded earnest. Familiar, even.

But then came the panel.

As advertised, Karma Box Executive Director Grant Denton was supposed to be seated on the dais. And then—he wasn’t. Gone. Absent. No explanation.

Which raises a fair question:
Did Denton suddenly disappear because media outlets and women who have publicly accused him of abuse reached out to Kidd and his team?

If so, that begs a bigger one: why was Denton invited in the first place?

Greg Kidd’s event on January 21, 2026 at Reno Public Market. Grant Denton was missing from the dais.

For someone who brands himself as empathetic and community-focused, Kidd seems oddly unfamiliar with the very headlines shaping Northern Nevada. The allegations surrounding Denton have been public. The controversy around Karma Box has been discussed at commission meetings, in news reports, and across social media. This isn’t obscure lore—it’s current events.

Unless, of course, Kidd doesn’t read the local news. Or attend local meetings. Or listen when women speak.

And then there’s Kate Marshall, mayoral candidate, willingly sharing a stage with Kidd—another curious choice. Because a cursory glance at public records would have revealed troubling facts connected to the very organization Kidd thought fit for an “affordability” conversation.

Take Mathew Grimsley, a Karma Box employee working at the Safe Camp, who booking logs show was arrested on November 22 on a third-offense domestic battery charge, carrying a $50,000 bond. Reports also indicate a possible outstanding warrant in another state. That case now appears stalled in District Court.

Which leads us to yet another question—
Second Judicial District Court, we know you’ve been busy lately, but can we get a hearing scheduled?

This case has been just sitting around in Second Judicial District Court Department 6 since prior to Christmas. Now remember the individual in charge of scheduling and tasked with not allowing cases to sit around and languish is the Clerk of the Court - Alicia Lerud.

This weekend, two women who have made statements regarding Denton went public again, airing their grievances on social media. Their voices are growing louder, not quieter.

So perhaps the real issue isn’t Gregg Kidd’s tone-deaf town hall, or Kate Marshall’s campaign optics.

The real question is this:
Why does Washoe County leadership—particularly County Manager Kate Thomas—continue to look the other way?

The so-called “investigation” commissioned by former County Manager Eric Brown was widely viewed as weak, rushed, and designed more to quiet critics than uncover truth. Brown, now reportedly job-hunting, left behind a process that satisfied no one—especially the women who spoke up.

An independent, third-party investigation is no longer optional. It’s necessary.

Because affordability forums are easy.
Homework is hard.
And leadership—real leadership—means knowing who you’re elevating before you hand them a microphone.

Nevada deserves better than performative concern and selective awareness.
