Oops — We Missed Something Yesterday About Commissioner Andriola

We took a gander at Nevada Secretary of State business entity search after a few readers reached out to us yesterday.

And our readers made sure to point it out.

Specifically, residents of Red Hawk — many of whom oppose the newly proposed housing development — contacted Picon after our story ran to highlight something we should have connected.

Back in 2024, Washoe County Commissioner Clara Andriola reported “in-kind rent” for office space at Red Hawk Golf and Resort on her Nevada Contribution and Expense report.

Commissioner Clara Androla’s 2024 Nevada Secretary of State Contribution and Expense Report.

That “free office rent” was valued at$5,000 for the year.

Here’s the part readers flagged.

The individuals associated with providing that office space appear to be the same people tied to the development interests now proposing a large housing project in the Red Hawk area— a project that has drawn concern from many residents who live nearby.

Meanwhile, multiple sources tell Picon that Commissioner Andriola isrumored to maintain an office there and continues to take meetings at the location, as confirmed to us by employees but they must stay ‘off the record’ or will be fired, though the office does not appear on more recent filings.

To be clear, meeting with developers or having office space is not inherently improper, but shouldn’t Andriola be listing it on her contribution and expense reports. After all Andriola claims to be transparent.

But when the same names appear in campaign filings and development proposals, some residents say the optics feel a little too close for comfort. You know Red Hawk Land Company LLC.

We’ll let the readers decide.
