Battery Case Finally Moves Forward for Karma Box Figure

Washoe Life Podcast Grant Denton appeared on with Monica DuPea the Executive Director of NYEP and one of the propaganda chiefs Nancy Leuenhagen the Communications Director for Washoe County - the video is from back in 2024.

What’s Taking So Long? The Grimsley case crawls forward … the slow speed of justice may finally be picking up—ever so slightly.

Mathew Grimsley of the Nevada Cares Campus / Karma Box Project, who was arrested on a charge of battery, now appears to have a court date on the horizon. And with it, the possibility that we may finally learn what is actually happening at Karma Box—the operator of the so-called “safe camp” that is being paid by the Washoe County Human Services Agency. You know those silly taxpayers.

After reviewing the case file, we’ve learned that Grimsley has retained attorney Orrin Johnson, though it remains unclear how that legal representation is being funded. Certainly the Executive Director of Karma Box has the cash to help his friend out.

A Mandatory Status Conference scheduled for yesterday, January 27, was vacated at the last minute. The court has now set a preliminary hearing for February 23, 2026.

As we understand the process, someone from the District Attorney’s victim advocate team should be in contact with the alleged battered woman to coordinate testimony for the February 23rd hearing.

If you are the alleged victim and have not been contacted, please let Picon know. because we’ve got some attorneys who would be willing to help you.

Public funds, public programs, and public safety demand transparency—and this case has had precious little of it so far.
