Councilmember Devon Reese showing he’s multi-tasker yesterday on the dais.

After reading Mike’s Reno Report today, it’s clear he laid out Bruce Parks’ worldview of Republicans and Republican politics far more eloquently than Picon ever could.

And as Mike correctly pointed out, the problem isn’t that Parks lacks passion or spirit—it’s that he doesn’t do the homework.

Parks made a snap decision about Mike’s Reno Report without bothering to go back and actually read, investigate, or understand what Mike has written over time. That would require a four-letter word Parks seems to avoid: work. Instead, he prefers to step up to a podium and pontificate. He like the show and the perception of perceived power - the local Republican Party is all but powerless.

What Parks should be doing right now is calling out mayoral candidate Reno City Councilmember Devon Reese for not giving a damn about the people who actually live in Lakeridge. Reese apparently believes social media posts matter more than residents, neighbors, and voters. He didn’t even have the courtesy to truly listen to their concerns yesterday, because he wanted to get a post up.

Did the City of Reno hold interview opportunity for Save Lakeridge? We think not.

Frankly, the residents of Lakeridge should be talking about a recall. The fix was clearly in when the City of Reno held its press conference on Tuesday, January 27, rolling out the changes Duncan Golf Management wanted—getting more media to support the project something Save Lakeridge seemed powerless to accomplish.

That said, Lakeridge residents also need to own part of this mess. In 2021, they listened to the same tired Republican voices that led the charge against the apartment project at the old Lakeridge Tennis Club. One of those voices? A figure tied to Washoe Republican Women, who controls the purse strings of Save Lakeridge and hired a lobbyist with imaginary ties to Reno City Council—someone who, coincidentally, has spent the last five years lobbying for the Sparks lands bill, unsuccessfully.

And this is Bruce Parks’ real problem.

No one does their homework.
They just sell snake oil. We actually ponder if Reese and Parks share tips on how to not care about the very people they should - you know - the voters, residents, humans.

P.S. Lakdridge folks I ran a successful recall in 2024 if you want to chat.
