Devon Reese Finds Love… for His NAB (Just in Time for a Mayoral Run)

Suddenly Councilmember Reese is embracing his Ward 5 NAB.

Is it appropriate for media to laugh themselves silly at a Reno City Councilmember’s social media post? We don’t know. But we did.

After nine long months of blissful indifference, Ward 5’s very own Devon Reese has suddenly fallen head over heels for his Neighborhood Advisory Board. The same board he barely mentioned since being reelected in November 2024 is now the talk of his Facebook feed. He’s appointing members, hunting for alternates, and celebrating that they “hit the ground running” with discussions of two Ward 5 projects.

So why the sudden civic passion? Could it be… he’s running for mayor? Oh, absolutely.

It’s no secret that Commissioner Alexis Hill had been eyeing the mayor’s seat — until someone talked her into a run for governor instead. We’d have paid good money to be a fly on that wall during that conversation. Funny thing is, back in 2020 it was rumored Reese himself helped recruit Hill to run against then-Commissioner Marsha Berkbigler, a personal grudge match that paid off when Berkbigler lost — and then lost again in 2024.

Now, Hill is expendable, because the bigger priority is keeping a mayor in office who will maintain a certain cozy relationship with a certain lobbyist — a relationship key to several political careers staying comfortably afloat. The only person who doesn’t realize she is expendable is Hill because her ego really needs it own zip code.

And just like that, Reese is a born-again NAB enthusiast. Funny how love blooms while preparing for an election year. You know, 2026.
