Where is Judge Connie Steinheimer and why won’t Chief Judge Egan Walker talk about it?
Taxpayers are paying her salary and the salaries of her courtroom staff, yet there has been little public explanation about her status. If there's a legitimate reason she isn't hearing cases, why not simply tell the public? Transparency shouldn't be optional.
That leads to another question for Chief Judge Egan Walker.
Why has Judge Walker assumed responsibility for hearing cases that would ordinarily be assigned to other judges? Today's hearing in the Loving case is another example. Under what authority were those cases reassigned to Walker - from the poorly rated Judge Kathleen Sigurdson, that’s right he assigned the case to himself, and why haven't Reno and Washoe County residents been given a clear explanation? It has been months,
The public deserves to understand how these decisions are being made. The courts rely on public confidence, and that confidence is strengthened through openness—not silence.
Judge Walker is the public face of the court system, speaking with the media on judicial matters. But instead of another interview, perhaps what the public wants most are straightforward answers:
Where is Judge Steinheimer, and when will she return to hearing cases?
Those aren't political questions. They're questions of accountability from the taxpayers who fund the court system.
Maybe the Radon at the courthouse that Chief Judge Walker is doing nothing about is getting to his thinking process?
Seems Walker has moved from ‘Chief’ to ‘Ruler’ at the courthouse.
