WHO KNEW WHAT — AND WHEN?

Who wants to be the Washoe County Human Services Director and get to work with Eric Brown and Travis Sandeful.

Hey Phil Tenneson — you might want to take a closer look at what’s unfolding here.

Because if what we’re hearing is true, this isn’t just questionable judgment — it may rise to the level of not only state ethics violations you are stating are needed but this might require a Department of Justice look.

Let’s start here:

What exactly is the relationship between Volunteers of America Northern California & Northern Nevada, Travis Sandefur, Eric Brown, and Washoe County?

And more importantly — how far back does this go?

The county is welcoming Travis. So the county hired a VOA making room for former county manager Eric Brown to move into a position. Anyone else have questions?

Was this simply a nonprofit hiring decision, or did Washoe County have its fingerprints on the scale?

Because we are all still asking a very basic question:

What really happened to Dana Searcy? Remember then County Manager Eric Brown and then Assistant County Manager Kate Thomas simply gushed about Dana and her skills. So why lose that talaent at Washoe County?

Her abrupt departure raised eyebrows then — and it’s raising even more now. Our Town Reno keeps asking Washoe County what happened to Dana and keeps not getting a response.

Searcy was widely seen as the natural choice for Assistant County Manager.
Instead, that role went to Ryan Gustafson — a move some insiders say better suited County Manager Kate Thomas’ preference for a “yes man.”

Coincidence? Or calculated?

And while we’re asking questions — here’s another one:

Why did Chief Judge Egan Walker remove the Isabelle Loving case from Judge Kathleen Sigurdson’s courtroom and assign it to himself?

That’s not a routine move.

Walker has long been viewed as aligned with Commission Chair Clara Andriola, particularly through his competency and mediation court programs — programs that are claimed to have saved the county millions.

But where are the numbers?

Where’s the transparency?

Meanwhile, we’re receiving multiple tips from within the Washoe County Human Services Agency suggesting serious failures in the handling of the Loving family case.

Records are locked down due to the ongoing case — for now.

But court proceedings have a way of bringing facts into the light.

And here’s what we’re also hearing regarding the Loving case:

There may be an attempt to shift blame onto former Human Services Director Amber Howell.

That could prove difficult.

She’s lawyered up — and already suing Washoe County.

So we’ll ask again:

  • Who made the decisions?

  • Who benefited?

  • And who is about to be held accountable?

Because if even part of this is true, filing ethics complaints may not just be appropriate — it may be necessary.

Stay tuned.
