Washoe County Comedy Hour …

The hallway at the Washoe County Complex where the tussle with Commissioner Clara Andriola and three constituents took place.

We owe a thank-you to Commissioner Mike Clark for playing courier service with the video he mentioned at the last meeting - you know the thumb drive he had in his pocket. Since Washoe County’s public records process moves slower than molasses in January, Clark saved us the wait and handed over the footage.

And oh, what a gem it is.

Picture this: Commissioner Clara Andriola, hallway conversationalist, cornering three constituents like she’s hosting an impromptu town hall in the world’s narrowest corridor. One poor woman even looked like she was trapped against the wall — eyes darting like she was searching for the nearest fire exit, only to realize there wasn’t one. Someone cue the Mission Impossible theme music.

This might blow Commissioner Clara Andriola image - you know how she continues her “Nice Act” routine — the one she rolls out in speeches but seems to misplace when actual humans are involved. The constituent’s complaint in the video? Let’s just say it tracked. And Clara’s response? Well, let’s just say “gracious” didn’t make the cut, and we understand a total denial to the powers that be at Washoe County of what was discussed.

What we’re left with is a county government that promises transparency but prefers slow-motion records releases, commissioners who confuse “engagement” with “cornering,” and a whole lot of residents who deserve better.

At least we got a laugh out of the video. Sometimes the best political theater isn’t on C-SPAN — it’s right here in Washoe County’s hallways.
