Who Should Really Be Grand Marshal of the City of Reno’s 4th of July Parade?
According rumblings from Landon Miller with the City of Reno, Mayor Hillary Schieve is expected to serve as Grand Marshal for the 4th of July parade. We don’t know.
Some had floated the idea that Eddie Lorton should get the honor after publicly saying he would pay whatever the City couldn't raise to keep the parade alive. That promise generated plenty of headlines. This Is Reno ran an article about the parade still needing $15,000 - so Eddie where’s the check you promised?
Now, with questions still lingering about that pledge, some of Eddie's biggest supporters are asking why the media keeps covering the story. The answer is simple: when someone makes a public promise on the record, it's news whether that promise is fulfilled or not.
Our vote for Grand Marshal?
Michael Leonard.
Why? Because from day one, Michael said the parade funding promise was more about publicity than writing a check. Whether you agreed with him or not, he consistently made that argument long before the election was over.
Sometimes the person who deserves to lead the parade is the one who saw the parade coming.
