Mayor Schieve’s Wine Bar Surveillance Program
Mayor Hillary Schieve is in the baseball cap flashing away - we ponder was this her personal phone or city phone.
Mayor Hillary Schieve loves to lecture Reno residents about privacy. Question her, disagree with her, or — heaven forbid — wonder about her motives, and suddenly you’re guilty of “doxing,” accused of exposing the poor mayor’s delicate personal details.
But pour her a glass of wine at a Belleville Wine Bar, and suddenly the mayor transforms into Reno’s answer to the paparazzi. Forget city budgets and potholes — Hillary’s new hobby is flash photography.
Here’s the scene: Schieve and her Spooge-business-partner are holding court with a small group when in walks a gentleman. His only goal? Enjoy a glass of wine. His only baggage? A legal dispute with someone at the mayor’s table.
And who’s the first to pounce with a camera? Not TMZ. Not the Reno Gazette-Journal. Nope — it’s our mayor, phone in hand, snapping away like she’s auditioning for Real Housewives of Washoe County. The flash lit up that bar brighter than the Reno Arch.
Here’s the rub: the mayor insists that residents questioning her are invading her personal life. Yet somehow, in her world, it’s perfectly fine to invade someone else’s evening at a wine bar — a private citizen, no less — with a camera.
The irony is so thick you could spread it on toast. Hillary Schieve cries about invasions of her privacy, but when a regular guy walks into a bar, suddenly his privacy is optional. He’s not a public figure. He’s not an elected official. He’s just a dude who wanted some wine — and instead got the Mayor’s Cellphone Surveillance Program. Plus, one should ask was this her city phone or was it her personal phone, cuz that opens up a whole new can of worms.
Time for Mayor Schieve to decide: Is privacy sacred, or just another political prop? Because right now, it looks like the mayor’s favorite double standard pairs best with a bold cabernet.
Oh, and make sure you blow up the video when watching so you can see all the players. It is most amusing. We’ll be posting more about this ‘wine bar incident’ so we’ll make sure to point out all the players in another story if you can’t make them out.
